Manufacturer of chopping devices for ships and berths

The designers of the Almaz continue to develop the Alexandrite project.

The designers at the Central Marine Design Bureau
of the United Shipbuilding Corporation “Almaz” continue to work
on improving the design of the mine countermeasures ship (MCS)
of Project 12700 “Alexandrit” for subsequent series. This was reported
by a correspondent of Sudostroenie.info on April 24 during the ground‑laying
ceremony for the sixteenth minesweeper of the “Dmitry Glukhov” series,
by Konstantin Golubev, head of the design organization.

It should be recalled that Project 12700 was developed by the Central Marine Design Bureau “Almaz” for the Russian Navy. A series of minesweepers
is being built at the Sredne‑Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (SNSS) of the United Shipbuilding Corporation in St. Petersburg. The shipbuilders at SNSS
have already handed over nine minesweepers of the “Alexandrit” project to the Navy.

The ships of the PMO of the “Alexandrit” project belong to the new generation of mine‑sweeping forces and are designed to combat sea mines.
The key feature of the ships of Project 12700 is their hull made of monolithic fiberglass produced using the vacuum infusion method. This hull
has a lower mass, increased corrosion resistance, and strength comparable to hulls made of conventional materials.

To detect, identify, and destroy potentially hazardous objects, Project 12700 ships are equipped with modern hydroacoustic systems, various types
of minesweepers, and remotely operated and autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles.
